OOTD – Milan Fashion Week Edition Part 1
Bonjourno and Saluti from Milano my modaioli!
This is what I would have started my blogpost with if I wrote it when I should have. Also, if I am incorrect with my use of modaioli (fashionistas) please blame google translate. Milan seems like a lifetime ago (partially because it was) and was a whirlwind to say the least. The four days disappeared yet I didn’t seem to have a minute while I was there. I have to split this post into two parts as I have far too much content for one blog post. The first evening was spent admiring the beautiful Milan Cathedral and exploring the Piazza del Duomo. I had to take some photos in front of the Cathedral as it really took my breath away.
For my first outfit I wanted understated elegance with an edge. I wore a black tailored jumpsuit and cape style jacket with my monochrome Adidas Superstars. My jumpsuit which I have since last year is from Karen Millen, my cape style jacket was from Zara and my Superstars are currently available in many footwear and sports retailers. I had my trademark black suede courts to slip on for dinner but the runners were a necessity for wandering around. I kept my accessories very minimal and pretty much only wore my clothes hanger chain from Forever 21, my Daniel Wellington Sheffield watch in rose gold and my Alex & Ani bangles. My saffino leather tote is from Karen Millen and it is one of my favourite bags.
I spent my second day in Milan jumping on and off the tram to shoot in different locations around the city. As their fashion week events happens in different locations everyday I was hoping I might find myself in the right place at the right time. My first location was an old church, San Marco off Via Montebello. I knew I would be gone all day so I wanted an outfit that would convert from day to night. I wore blush pink culottes from Boohoo.com and kept the colour scheme soft and neutral. I wore a white box-shaped jumper and light tan trench coat over them. To accessorise this minimal outfit I wore a gold bodychain, nude and grey snakeskin heels and a brown snakeskin cross-body bag. I have matching brown snakeskin pumps but they tore my feet to pieces within the first hour. I had to change into my heels and strut around in them for the day. Funnily enough, they didn’t give me an ounce of trouble unlike my pumps. It wasn’t just the physical pain that motivated the change, they are a perfect match for my satchel! To this day I haven’t worn them so it might be time to give them a second chance.
I have a little close up and #fromwhereistand picture that shows off the body chain I wore with this outfit. The body chain was H&M, snakeskin satchel and white jumper are both Topshop and the trench was from Newlook.
For the evening I swapped my jumper for a waistcoat and my satchel for a clutch and I was ready to go. I wore a sheer shirt under the waistcoat as it was deceptively cold in Milan. That evening was spent wandering around Castello Sforzesco until we found ourself back at Piazzo del Duomo. I took some pictures at a gorgeous fountain outside the castle ruins.
I have another closeup of my outfit. My waistcoat is also from Boohoo and it matches the culottes. Its sleeveless with four buttons and the pockets are only stitched detailing. The sheer sleeves I have underneath is more outerwear. There are no buttons on it but it fit perfectly under the waistcoat once I pinned it. It has a slight bell sleeve and it spills out longer than the waistcoat to give a peplum inspired shape. My clutch is again a direct match for my shoes and I got them in Aldo about three years ago. I try to buy trendy and quirky pieces in more classic styles so that when that particular fad is ‘out of fashion’ I can still wear them because I still love them. You can also see my nails in this picture, it is Essie nail polish ‘Master Plan’. I love the neutral and mink colours because they look great with everything!!
This is only the first half of my outfits to Milan. I have more outfits and some content from the trade shows to post so stay tuned. As always, let me know what you think!
Ciao Bellas!!
